What N932 means

Most dental claims are about a single tooth, but some treatment plans involve the entire mouth. For those, a payer may want a comprehensive set of images from before treatment, after treatment, or both. N932 is the remark used when that full series is missing or unusable.

The requirement is about scope. A single periapical will not satisfy it, even if that image is diagnostic, because the payer is reviewing the whole dentition.

  • Individual images were sent instead of a complete series.
  • The series is missing views, leaving some teeth unimaged.
  • The pre-operative series is too old to show the condition at the time treatment started.
  • Images were not labeled to distinguish before from after.

How to fix it

  1. Confirm the payer’s definition of a full mouth series and whether a panoramic with bitewings qualifies.
  2. Assemble the full set with dates and patient identifiers.
  3. Identify which set is pre-operative and which is post-operative if both are needed.
  4. Submit through the payer’s attachment channel and request reprocessing.

When planning comprehensive treatment for patients with payers that require it, take and store a complete baseline series before starting, so it is ready when the claim goes out.
