M110 Remark Code (Deactivated): Purchased Interpretation ID
M110 meant the identifier for the provider from whom the billing provider purchased interpretation services was missing, incomplete, or invalid. X12 deactivated it without naming a successor; N283, for the purchased service provider identifier, is the closest active remark.
X12 deactivated RARCM110 on June 2, 2005. Payers should no longer use it on new remittances, but it can still appear on older ERAs, corrected claims, and appeals.

What M110 meant
Some payers let a provider bill for an interpretation it bought from another physician. To pay it, they need to know who actually did the interpretation. Remark M110 told the billing provider that the identifier for that outside interpreter was missing or not valid.
What replaced it
No successor was named. The closest active remark is N283, which covers a missing or invalid purchased service provider identifier. Related remarks include M133, when the claim does not identify who performed a purchased test or its cost, and M65, which limits purchased-test claims to one interpreting physician charge.
If you still see M110
It exists only in archived remittances. For a current purchased-service denial, obtain the interpreting provider’s NPI, report it in the purchased service fields with the amount you paid, and confirm the payer permits purchased interpretations for that service before resubmitting.
